What makes a Moroccan rug "vintage"?
Age, and origin of purpose. A vintage Moroccan rug was woven by hand roughly 40-60 years ago — for a Berber home, not for a shop. It warmed a floor, hosted guests, and softened under decades of feet before anyone thought of selling it. Here the word carries a stricter meaning too: found by us in the High Atlas, one piece at a time — never pulled from a middleman's pile — washed twice, and sold with a certificate stating its region, wool, and approximate age. Where we're estimating, the listing says so.
How can you tell a real vintage rug from a fake?
Turn it over. A genuinely hand-knotted rug shows its pattern on the back, knot by slightly irregular knot — a machine copy hides a mesh grid or a printed underside. Then trust your hands: real wool feels dense and faintly waxy with lanolin; synthetics feel thin and squeak. And be suspicious of perfection — true vintage wears unevenly, fades in sun-facing patches, and repeats its pattern imperfectly, because a person made it and a family used it. Too flawless usually means too recent, or too machine. We photograph the back of every rug for exactly this reason.

How quickly does a vintage rug ship?
Fast, it's already made. Every rug on this page is washed, photographed, and ready: we roll it, wrap it, and hand it to the courier, insured door to door, with tracking the moment it leaves. Orders are shipped quickly and typically arrive within 4-8 business days, depending on the destination.
What if it doesn't work in my room?
Then send it back. We want a rug of ours to be fully loved in your home or not in your home at all. Return it within 14 days of delivery in its original condition and we'll refund you in full, no interrogation. Return shipping is yours unless it arrived damaged.
