Made-to-order rugs are woven for you on our looms your size, your colors, three to four weeks. Vintage rugs are thirty to seventy years old, bought from the families who lived with them, and there is one of each. Boujaad are one-of-one too, woven freestyle by one weaver working from memory.

For a queen bed, 8×10 ft so the rug extends about two feet past three sides. For a living room, big enough that at least the front legs of every seat sit on it usually 8×10 or 9×12. Send us your room measurements and we'll tell you which of ours fits.

The shape and pattern, yes for vintage pieces it's the exact rug in the picture, not a stock image. Color is harder. Screens shift wool tones, and about 7% of our customers mention the color reading slightly differently in their room. Usually warmer in person.

Yes, and this is the most common email we get. Send both links plus a photo of the room, badly lit phone photos are fine. We'll tell you which one wins in your space, including when the answer is neither.

Ask for wool swatches. We'll send the actual yarn, same price as any buyer, credited against your order. Hold it against your wall in daylight. It costs a few days and removes the one thing a photograph genuinely can't settle.

Turn it over. A hand-knotted rug shows every knot on the back, slightly uneven, with the pattern readable in reverse. A printed or tufted rug has a blank back, often with glue or fabric backing. The fringe is the other tell: on a real one it's the warp threads continuing out of the rug, not a strip sewn on.

Wool from sheep at altitude, which is longer and greasier than lowland fleece, and a tradition where the weaver designs at the loom rather than following a cartoon. That's why no two are identical, and why the pattern drifts as it climbs. It isn't a flaw in the process it is the process.

For made-to-order rugs, yes your size to the centimetre and your colors from our wool palette. Send a wall color or a fabric photo and we'll match to wool. Vintage and Boujaad pieces are already finished, so those come as they are.

Three to four weeks on the loom, then four to eight business days in transit. A square metre is two to four days of knotting, so bigger rugs take proportionally longer. If you have a real deadline, tell us before you order and we'll say honestly whether we'll make it.

Yes, and this is the part customers mention most often without being asked. When your rug comes off the loom and out of the wash, we photograph it the full rug, the pile up close, the color in daylight and send it to you. Ask for more angles if you want them. It ships only when you say so.

No. We pay all duties and import taxes on every order, wherever you are. The price at checkout is the full price nothing should be due at your door.

4 to 8 business days once it ships, worldwide, free. A made-to-order rug is 30 to 40 days door to door, because most of that is someone tying knots. About a third of our reviews mention it arriving sooner than expected but if it's running late you'll hear from us with a new date before you have to ask.

Tracking comes with your dispatch email. If you'd rather just ask a person, email us with your order number and you'll get an actual answer, not a status page.

Within two days of ordering, yes email us with your order number. After that a made-to-order rug may already be on the loom, and a vintage one may already be in a box. Ask anyway; we'll tell you honestly where it is.

Yes, but no beater bar. A rotating brush pulls loops out of a hand-knotted pile and the damage doesn't reverse. Suction only, once a week, and less often on a deep pile than you'd think.

Yes, and it's what they were made for, these were floor-and-bed in Moroccan houses long before they were decor. Lanolin in the wool keeps most spills sitting on top long enough to blot. Cream will show a muddy paw the way a white shirt does; a Boujaad will hide almost anything.

Decades, with normal use many of the vintage rugs we sell are fifty years old and still on their first life. The wear goes into the pile slowly and evenly rather than the backing failing. Cost per year is a more useful number here than price.
